"The First Night"/"Stranger Tides"

"The First Night"
From 'cross the room our gazes meet - I set upon the task
Of weaving tapestries of tales to keep you for awhile
An open book of of answers to the questions you may ask
In hopes the efforts made of me shall draw from you a smile
And though the night is early the hope cannot be contained
If successful in just one of my many dif'rent tries
For a moment I can keep you here, keep you entertained
And in that fleeting moment lose myself inside your eyes
The greatest hope I have is when you leave my company
You prefer when we're together to when I am away
Clinging to what you have of me, a cherished memory
A hope that we shall meet again, shall speak again some day
And though some men seek forever for riches they shant find
I'm richer every moment that I play upon your mind

"Stranger Tides"
"No man is an island" they say
But I can look from shore to shore
And see naught but empty waters
Stretching to distant horizons
That I know I can never reach

I cry out to the star-lit sky
And drain my sadness on the sand
My only solace being that
With no one here to comfort me
So too can no one see my tears

The waves lap at the golden beach
I sink into the darkened sea
In hopes I shall find something there
"No man is an island" they say
And I am an island no more
